New site stores Proof of Purchase for consumers

Remember when the TV/washing machine/freezer broke down, and you thought it was still under warranty but couldn’t find the documents to prove it?

That problem could be a thing of the past, using a new website that’s recently been launched.

In April 2006 www.proofofpurchase.co.uk went live. It’s a website that allows users to securely record information about goods they’ve bought. Then, if anything goes wrong, they can quickly retrieve the facts they need to get things fixed.

Users will be able to store details about the supplier, the manufacturer, the product and copies of any documents they might need – receipts, warranty and so on.

Additonally the site is building up a database of information to help users to sell, repair and dispose of goods, as well as providing legal information.

Diana Lines from Proof of Purchase said “We genuinely feel that this site is bringing something new to consumer services and the Internet. It will be of advantage to both the buyer and seller.

For the buyer it gives the opportunity to securely store “off-site”
information on products they’ve purchased. For the seller it will ensure that any claims that require proof of purchase can be validated and dealt with efficiently and fairly.

We’re totally independent and not connected with any supplier or manufacturer. Rather like credit card protection companies our aim is to provide a one-stop shop for users when things go wrong.”

Registration is free for the first 90 days and then only £10 per year after that.
