BT Yahoo speed up dial-up connections

BT Yahoo! dial-up customers can now enjoy surfing at speeds up to 5x faster than ordinary dial-up.

The company has teamed up with OnSpeed – a British internet acceleration company. OnSpeed uses patented military technology to compress data by up to 5x so that information comes through faster. However, it does not involve any new hardware or wires, only software that can be downloaded in just two minutes. OnSpeed works by compressing the data going through an internet connection. Less data is being passed through, thus increasing internet speeds.
The aim is to give those customers who feel that they are not ready for broadband, the best web experience possible.

Furthermore, for BT Yahoo! Anytime customers, the boost in speed will be available for free, as a natural extension to the customer service portfolio. For BT Yahoo! Pay As You Go customers, the service will be available for just £24.99 per year. ?We are always listening to our customers and we know that one of their sources of frustration is the speed of their narrowband connection,? said Duncan Ingram, managing director broadband and internet services BT. ?That?s why we teamed up with OnSpeed.?

?The new download speeds will improve the internet experience for our dial-up customers. We want to ensure that our customers aren?t held back because of their narrowband connections and don?t miss out on all that the web has to offer.?

?Speed is a frustration all dial-up users experience. The partnership between OnSpeed and BT will give BT?s customers unmatched dial-up speeds and allow BT to set its products apart from the competition by delivering high performance to their customers,? added Jamie True, co-founder of OnSpeed.

?Our partnership with BT provides a great solution to help BT deliver the best service to their customers by dramatically increasing the speed of customers? dial-up internet access and thus a more fulfilling online experience.?
