Ask Jeeves UK has announced a new look both for its website and for Jeeves, the iconic butler from whom the search engine takes its name. After four years serving on the Internet in the UK, visitors to Ask Jeeves in the past week will have seen the gentleman?s gentleman missing. He returns today from his online sabbatical looking refreshed, sharper and more dynamic. The changes to Jeeves are more than skin deep however as the website itself has had a makeover to reflect the evolution of its search service in recent months.
As part of its evolution Ask Jeeves has added a suite of intuitive Smart Search functions that give the user direct results in a box out format at the top of the search results page instead of directing them to just ?10 blue links?.
The current list of smart answers include:
o Product Smart Searches
o Famous People Smart Search
o News and Weather Smart Search
o Stock and Share Smart Search
Ask.co.uk is powered by its unique and proprietary Teoma search technology, the ?brain? behind the intuitive delivery and relevancy of its results. In terms of design and usability, the layout of the Ask.co.uk homepage has been updated for simplicity and ease of use. The ?ask? button has been replaced with a new ?search? button to remind users that they can search as effectively and quickly with keywords as they can by asking questions. In addition users can now also download the Ask Jeeves toolbar from the home-page, make use of the advanced search functionality and filter how they want to display their results via the new ?settings? feature.
Speaking about the changes, Adrian Cox, CEO, Ask Jeeves UK said, ?A fresh look, combined with new products, tools and superior search technology mean that Ask Jeeves is now faster, easier to use and delivers a better search experience than ever for users. ?Jeeves is still very much part of the Ask Jeeves brand identity and personality, as a friendly face on the Internet that Ask.co.uk users like to see. His new look is symbolic of the changes to the website and mirrors the evolution of the company itself.? An exciting and original TV campaign created by TBWA to support the new look website and Jeeves character breaks on October 4th.
